Product Questions (1)
I have a panasonic wv-sp305 camera set 10m. up and with 50/60m field of view. I need a lens that will be able to see no.plates clearly and photograph them. I was advised to get a Fujinon YV2.8x2.8sa-sa2 vari-focal lens, and i would like your opinion if you think that is the best Peter.

Hello Peter,
For a fair chance of a number plate read you would ideally limit the scene width to not much more than a single car's width, let's say 3m max. The proposed camera and lens combination would only allow you to achieve this at a maximum distance of approx. 5.5m distance (straight line from camera to number plate). So you probably need something with a greater focal range/longer focal distance, the Fujinon YV3.3x15HR4A-SA2 1.3 Megapixel 15-50mm vari-focal lens would allow you to position the camera anywhere between 10 and 35m from the target number plate.
Ideally the camera would be at a lower height than 10m to allow for a shallower line of sight head-on to the front number plate.
